September’s meetup was hosted by R2C Group on Tuesday, 9/9. Since we finished up our series on the Project Lifecycle in August, we chose a new topic this month: tools of the trade.
After an introductions and networking, we broke into two discussion groups. The first group chatted about the best and worst tools we’ve used for internal project management. The second group spoke on the best and worst tools for client-facing project management.
All participants were very engaged, as we picked up some new tool ideas. One of the benefits of this PM community is that we all understand the common frustrations and shortcomings of current PM tools. Most of the group members felt like we use too many tools on a daily basis, and none of them solve all our needs. However, a few tools rose to the top. Our group members have had good experiences with the following tools:
- Fang Office
There were a few tools with mixed or negative reviews as well.
We would like to pick a few of these top tools for a deeper dive in a future meeting. Not everyone is familiar with them, so we have a great chance to information-share in this department.
We’ll see you at the next meetup, coming up on October 14th! Details on that one soon.
