It may or may not be news to you, but I figured it's time I got around to writing a blog post about our January meetup that was announced recently. The meetup will be held in the community room at ISITE Design in NW Portland, on January 14th, starting at 6PM.
Here are a few important links:
- Here's the link to the Eventbrite page, where you should go RSVP if you're planning on attending the meetup.
- Here's a link to a survey that I'd like as many people as possible to fill out in advance of the meetup (whether you can come or not)
As far as the meetup goes, the structured part of the evening will begin at 6PM, but feel free to show up as early as 5:30 to mingle with other attendees and share some snacks and beverages. At 6PM, I'll kick off with some introductions, background and a couple ground rules. We'll do a quick introduction of ISITE Design, recap the survey results, and get into the main content for the evening, a panel discussion with four of our peers:
I'll be moderating with a combination of pre-planned and audience questions. The topic? "Defining Digital PM - The People and the Role." Since it's the first time meeting as the group, it'll be a valuable exercise to delve into who we are, what our roles consist of, and who we work for as a starting point for future discussions. Let me know if you have specific questions along those lines that you'd like to hear discussed in advance. We'll be getting into things like:
- What type of digital projects does your organization typically work on?
- What is the breadth of your organization's PM/Producer role?
- What level of technical knowledge do your PMs/Producers have?
And much more! We'll wrap up right about 7PM, and there will be more time following the event to mingle and get to know other attendees.
The first meetup will be highly informative of the structure and content of future meetups, so any and all feedback and suggestions are welcome. Oh, and in case you're curious the plan for future meetups is on the second Tuesday of the month, so you can tentatively pencil in that date/time for future months.
We'll see you in January! If you have any other questions, leave them in the comments or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
