We kicked off 2017 events on January 30th with a great panel discussion hosted at digital agency GRAYBOX in their free event space with panoramic views of downtown. We had a good-sized group that gathered to listen to our panel discuss topics centered around the “Ask a Dev” topic for the evening.
Our panel was moderated by David Hughes, Director of Strategy at GRAYBOX. The panel consisted of:
- Jon Haarstad, Senior Frontend Developer at GRAYBOX
- Scott Dudley, Backend Developer at Planet Argon
- Beth Long, Software Engineer at New Relic
- Adam Runner, Software Engineer at Copious
The evening resulted in lively conversation between these folks and the audience surrounding the challenges in working together successfully on both the Project Manager side as well as the Developer side. Ideas for how to improve existing practices were shared and explored, and frustrations were tackled together with a collaborative approach. We hope the evening was a strong step forward in bridging the communication gap between these two vital team roles!
Before the panel started, PDX Digital PM folks mingled with each other and some new faces from related industries. We always get an interesting mix of both PM’s and other professionals who are simply interested in our meetup topics. Attendees were treated to a vast array of pizza choices from Pizza Schmizza, wings, salad – and a heap of Dum Dums lollipops which Pizza Schmizza included as a perk. Plus the beer fridge offered up a slew of local brews and wine.
Thank you to GRAYBOX for hosting, and to our panel participants for a great event! We look forward to seeing you all at our next meetup tentatively planned for March 14th at Planet Argon – stay tuned for more info.
